Gala
Gala is the first variety that we harvest starting around the begining of August and starts off apple season. It is a popular variety and is a great eating apple. The apple has a crunchy texture with a floral sweet taste.
Galas typically ripen and are harvested in early August.
Early Fuji
This is a strain of Fuji that is ready in late August/early September. While it may not be as bright as the later Fuji it still packs the same great flavor and sweetness. This is a great eating apple that is very crunchy and also very juicy. While it is a great eating apple it can also be great for cooking applications.
Early Fujis typically ripen and are harvested in early August.
Honeycrisp
Honeycrisp is a fan favorite apple harvested in early August. It is a very sweet, crunchy and juicy apple. Works best as a fresh eating apple or for apple sauce, as it tends to cook down in most recipes.
Honey Crisps typically ripen and are harvested in early August.
Tigress
A new and very unique apple harvesting in mid- August. This is a cross between Honeycrisp and Fuji but has a very unique flavor and texture. It is a very crunchy apple, with texture similar to an Asian Pear. The flavor is sweet and spicy with notes of ginger. A delicious favorite with our Farmers Market customers.
Tigresses typically ripen and are harvested in early August.
Golden Delicious
An old variety but a family favorite. Golden Delicious have a bad reputation as being flavorless and mealy from the grocery store, but when they are picked and eaten fresh they are one of the sweetest and most delicious traditional varieties. We encourage our customers to give them another try. They are also a very good baking apple!
Golden Deliciouses typically ripen and are harvested in early September.
Sweet Zinger
A cross between Gold Rush and Sweet 16. This is a very complex flavored apple that is very crispy and juicy that works great for both fresh eating and baking applications. Typically is a large apple that stores well and has caught on well with customers who like both Granny Smith and Gala.
Sweet Zingers typically ripen and are harvested in the middle of September and into early October.
Ludacrisp
An open pollinated Honeycrisp – meaning half the parentage is Honeycrisp; the other is a mystery! This is a very crunchy, floral and sweet apple. It has a lovely pink blush color and is a delicious fresh eating apple.
Ludacrip apples typically ripen and are harvested in mid-October.
Granny Smith
Granny Smith is one of the oldest varieties and is well know. It is harvested in early October once the weather has started to cool and is the last apple picked. It can be used in most cooking applications and is especially good in pies.
Evercrisp
Another great combo coming out of the Honeycrisp and Fuji cross. A very sweet, crunchy craveable apple that is quick to become a family favorite. It is wonderful for fresh eating and also makes wonderful apple butter. A deeply red apple that holds its juice and crunch well.
Evercrips typically ripen and are harvested in early October.
Pink Lady
A cult favorite among our Farmer’s Market family as well as one of the Knuckleheads! Pink Lady ripens to a bright pink in late October, early November and is a spicy, sweet and juicy apple. It has a great flavor, wonderful for fresh eating and baking.
